“4-F: Charles Bukowski and World War II”

By Colin Woodward

I recently gave a talk in Boston at a conference for pop culture scholars. The subject was Charles Bukowski’s contrarian take on World War II. While I am first and foremost a Civil War historian, there other wars, and aspects of the military experience, that I like writing about. I figured I’d post the paper here: Bukowski paper PDF.

Colin Woodward is a historian and archivist. He is the author of Marching Masters, Slavery, Race, and the Confederate Army during the Civil War (University of Virginia Press, 2014). He is writing a second book on Johnny Cash.
